City to Build IPA in Seribu Islands

Jakarta Provincial Government will build water treatment installation (IPA) at 4 islands in Seribu Island area to fulfill the citizen's need of clean water.

Two facilities with 900 cubic meters capacity per day will be built in Harapan and Kelapa Island, while 2 others will be built in Panggang and Pramuka Island with 500 and 250 cubic meters each.
Bawa Surasa, Jakarta Environmental Agency's groundwater and wastewater management Head said, the construction of the four water treatment installation will be started by middle of this year.

Surasa added, the facility will apply the tower and network system to produce not only clean water, but also creates human potable water.

Seribu Islands Regent, Tri Djoko explained, the project will not involve private sector and after the construction is complete, the management will be given to Seribu Islands Water Management sub-dept. Furthermore, the facility is expected to fulfill the water need of 20,000 citizens in North Seribu Islands Sub-district.
"We believe the water facility could supply 150 liter water per person per day," he explained.
Syaiful Bahri (35), RT 02/03 citizen, Pulau Panggang Urban Village, North Seribu Islands Sub-district, admitted to happy about the construction because it will facilitate he and the citizens to get the clean water.
"We are very pleased, because by this facility we are no need to catching rainfall or buy the water from the land anymore," he said
